I thought back to how we had discussed "delegating" in one of our classes and how it is so important to have great teachers. There is only one principal, and sometimes hundreds of teachers in a building. By trusting and encouraging your "superstar" teachers, you are effectively delegating some of the guidance to them.
\n
\nThis will in turn affect school climate because other teachers will see the "superstar" teachers being respected and placed in leadership roles. I personally always thrive when there are lead teachers running professional development and team meetings. I respect them as teachers and want to better myself because I trust that they are going above and beyond what is required.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"65366314","body":"We'll talk more about this in class. On the first few nights she had to model the dinner ritual she hoped to take hold on a regular basis. Todd Whitaker notes that Aunt Sally had a purpose, a plan, and she took the lead. She persisted night after night until the various family members began to take the lead. She was special. She had what it took and so do great principals. Great principals effect change by identifying a need and executing a plan with persistence in order to make a difference in a remarkable short time.
\n
\nI believe the idea Todd Whitaker presents here is essential for a principal in influencing the school climate needed to bring about change. I agree that it is imperative for a great principal to formulate a well-thoughtout plan and take the lead by persisting in executing his or her vision. This type of principal will create change and cause improvement to occur in their school.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"65361622","body":"I think that over and over again we have heard how important modeling is when being an effective administrator. I think that this is the exact same as the importance of modeling to your students. More than anything else, I learned the importance of modeling during my practicum and student teaching experiences. I could see the difference when the teacher modeled vs when they didn't (I had two very different cooperating teachers), and I could see the reaction of the students to the different teaching styles. There's no doubt that modeling is key for teaching, whether it be teaching staff or students.","dateCreated":"1379976625","smartDate":"Sep 23, 2013","userCreated":{"username":"MartineSiravo","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/MartineSiravo","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"65366240","body":"It's so important to walk the talk - every eye is always on the principal. On page 58 in the Whitaker text, he explains that as the year moves on \u201cthe culture in each room becomes strong and more defined.\u201d He uses the example of an ineffective teacher leaving before the end of the school year and an excellent teacher taking over for the rest of the year. \nClassroom culture is essential for a principal in influencing the climate and the culture of a school. The culture of a school is the beliefs and values that influence policies and practices within a school.
